Key Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Requirement:
- PhD in any branch of biology or biotechnology
- Experience working on mammalian systems, human disease biology, and therapies
- Experience Requirement:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in molecular biology, gene construction/cloning, and cell biology research
- Experience in production and purification of viral vectors is preferred
- Prior experience with cGMP manufacturing processes is an added advantage (industry or academia experience welcome)
Mandatory Skills and Techniques
Candidates must have hands-on experience with at least four or more of the following techniques:
- Cell Biology:
- Mammalian cell culture, transfection, aseptic techniques
- Molecular Biology:
- Plasmid production, bacterial culture, cloning, PCR, QPCR
- Biochemistry:
- Protein isolation, immunoblotting, tissue staining, microscopy
- Chromatography:
- Ion-Exchange (IEX), affinity chromatography; experience with AKTA systems
- Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience with viral vectors, cloning mammalian genes, bioreactor culture
- Animal handling and tissue experiments
Role and Responsibilities
As a Post Doctoral Fellow in Gene Therapy, your responsibilities will include:
- Vector Production:
- Perform various techniques related to cell culture, vector design, plasmid production, and chromatography-based purification (affinity and ion-exchange)
- Quality and Documentation:
- Ensure detailed documentation, conduct quality control, and maintain bio-banking standards
- Experimental Work:
- Carry out both in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate gene therapy vectors
- Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for major projects and lab activities, contributing new research ideas
- Travel:
- Occasional travel to core facilities for conducting specialized experiments
